Could Belize Be the Next Place You Travel To?

Ever considered visiting Belize? If you haven’t, it’s about time you did. This country on the eastern coast of Central America has Caribbean Sea lapping at its shores and boasts hundreds of low-lying islands which host spectacular marine life. If you’re the type of person that likes going off the beaten track to experience a unique adventure, then we can’t think of any reason why you shouldn’t venture to Belize.

Blissful beaches

While there may not be an abundance of beaches in Belize the beauty of the few that they do have definitely compensates. Belize beaches are heavenly and uncrowded with stunning turquoise water that is warm enough to jump in, even in the winter. Some are located right next door to the tropical rainforest and some are made for diving.

The Great Blue Hole

Belize is known for this natural wonder and the reason many visit the country is to witness this hole in the ocean that is situated just a few miles off the country’s coast. The Great Blue Hole is so distinctive that it can be seen from outer space and is one of Belize’s most famous sights attracting divers and snorkellers and everyone in between.

The Belize Barrier Reef

The Belize Barrier Reef is made up of a series of coral reefs spanning 185 miles of the country’s coastline. It’s one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world and is home to over five hundred species of fish, seventy hard coral and thirty six soft coral. Between the reef and the coast, you will find some of the best diving in the Caribbean. So, if you’re a keen diver this world-class diving spot is calling you.

Maya Ruins

One thing you’ll find in Belize is a myriad of Maya Ruins, in fact, the country has more Maya Ruins per square mile than any other country. Some of the ruins have been excavated so that they can be enjoyed by visitors. These majestic pyramids are a fantastic sight if you want to explore the historical side of Belize.

Fresh food

You won’t find any Michelin star restaurants in Belize but what you will find is intriguing gourmet meals made with the freshest food. Belize makes the most of being a maritime state so most restaurants will be more than happy to serve up your favourite lobster, seabass, shrimp and more. You’ll also be able to enjoy fresh exotic fruits such as papayas, mangoes, kiwi fruit, watermelon, melons, soursop and pineapples. Belize is renowned for producing oranges and grapefruits and so you can enjoy refreshing natural juices each day.

Marvellous weather

Being in the tropics, Belize is toasty almost year-round making it the ideal holiday destination at any time of the year. Although it remains warm all year round it does have a rainy season that runs from June to October and a cooler season from November to February but travelling during this time can often be cheaper and less crowded. It can get very hot in the height of summer, but this is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the gorgeous water and beaches. In the winter it rarely goes below 20°C so even during the Christmas Holidays you can be having fun outdoors, and yes, be out on the beach.
